EDITH (COMSTOCK) ZAPF, 100, of Frankfort died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at The Maples in Frankfort.

Arrangements are pending with the Frankfort Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

FRANKFORT - Edith Zapf, 100, of Frankfort, died at the Maples on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005. She was born Jan. 24, 1905, in Constantine, the daughter of the late Bert and Stella Comstock.

Edith graduated from Michigan State College in 1927. She taught in the Detroit Public Schools until her marriage on Nov. 28, 1946, to William Zapf, who preceded her in death.

She was a life-long member of the Congregational Church in Traverse City and Frankfort, as well as a member of Lakeside Literacy Club and the Eastern Star. Edith was a charter member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at the Michigan State University.

For many years, Edith and William spent winters in warmer climates, such as Hawaii, Charleston, S.C. and Las Vegas.

Edith is survived by cousins.

A graveside service will be held in the spring.

The Frankfort Chapel of McElduff Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.

ELKHART, Ind. - Victoria Lynn "Vickey" Zmudzinski, 47, of Elkhart, Ind., died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at home. Born Dec. 3, 1957, in Traverse City, she was the daughter of James George and Miriam (Linderleaf) Zmudzinski. Vickey graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1975.

An avid crusader for animals, Vickey volunteered for the Elkhart County Humane Society and the DNR to raise and release orphaned wild young animals. She also volunteered for the Salvation Army Resale Store. A lover of all people, Vickey loved nature and working in her yard.

She is survived by her son, James "Jimmy" Zmudzinski of Elkhart, Ind.; fiancé, Doug Johnson and his sons, Chad and Jeremy, all of Elkhart Ind.; brother, Ken Zmudzinski of Jenison; sister-in-law, Elaine Zmudzinski of Edwardsburg; niece, Lisa Zmudzinski of Edwardsburg; and her beloved dogs, Bengal and Katz.

Friends and family may call Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home and Crematory in Elkhart, Ind., where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, with Fr. Bill Sullivan officiating. Cremation will take place with burial at a later date in Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol, Ind.

Memorials may be considered to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
