Both stories include some of the pioneers of that time. September 11, 2016 - I hope that you are finding things of value on the website these days. I know I spent quite a bit of time not being able to keep up with things due to illness, my husband's death and then with open heart surgery. I still have about two file drawers of Mecosta Co. info and hope to get at least a page or two every few days. September 13, 2016 - Under businesses the First Hotel was added and under government, the first postmasters of Big Rapids. September 20, 2016 - Just added a page for all the businesses and business people as the list was so long. The new page is still in the same place, but, will be done all together on one page. I really need to take the time to redo this whole index page and start grouping things all together with their own pages. Ho Hum.... LOL September 20, 2016 - A few more news briefs were added to the News Briefs of Big Rapids and Mecosta County. I like doing these, as I find that many times we will not find much of anything about ur ancestors other than thru the brevity columns and news briefs. Many times they include deaths and marriages that otherwise are not found. September 20, 2016 - Added a few news briefs to the Old Mecosta County Jail listed under government. September 20, 2016 - Added some very brief death notices between 1881 abd 1884 from the Big Rapids Current newspaper. September 24, 2016 - Added teachers from 1868-1882 for the Union School District, City of Big Rapids. You'll find it Big Rapids City Schools Index under schools of long ago. I've added the students in 7 classes that taught it in 1882, so there are several hundred listed. I need to do two more classes for Miss Rayell and Miss Price that I hope to get in the next few days. September 25, 2016 - Miss Price and Miss Rayell's class were added to the 1882 Big Rapids City School index. |
