Funeral services for Richard A. Beland, 65, W6508 W. 38th No. 1.25 Rd., Menominee, were held Saturday, Oct. 27 at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Mark Johnson officiated with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee. He died Wednesday, Oct. 24 at home after a brief battle with cancer. Born Dec. 10, 1935 in Menominee to Emma (Hruska) Beland and the late Edward Beland, he had resided in that area all of his life. On June 19, 1959 he married the former Carolyn Jean Anderson in Gladstone, Mich. He was first employed by Beland Roofing, later did construction work with Alfredson Brothers of Menominee and other construction companies before retiring in 1990. He was a 30-year member of Wisconsin Laborers Local No. 539, AARP and Western Fraternal Association. Survivors include his wife; a son, Scot (Heidi) Beland of Menominee; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Brenda) Gustafson of Wallace, Kim Beland of Green Bay; two grandchildren; his mother, Emma Beland of Menominee; two brothers, Darrell (Jhai) Beland and Patrick (Carol) Beland of Menominee; and a sister, Mrs. Jim (Bonnie) Kopish of Marinette.
