David J. Bryson

David J. Bryson, 83, of Rt. 1, Powers, died unexpectedly Nov. 8 at St. Francis Hospital, Escanaba, of an apparent heart attack.

He was born Sept. 28, 1903, in Spalding, and was a lifelong resident of the Powers-Spalding area. On June 20, 1928, he married Laura Weber of Nadeau.  He was employed by the Birdseye Veneer Co., Escanaba, until his retirement in 1968.  After retirement, he served as a janitor and maintenance man at St. Francis Xavier Church, Spalding, for 14 years.  He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the church and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus of Escanaba.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Donald of Pulaski; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Turnquist of Escanaba, and Lillian Mercier of Chicago, Il.; and two granddaughters.  Four sisters and three brothers died previously.

Friends called at the Kell-Tondin Funeral Chapel.  Final rites were held Nov. 11 at the church.  The Rev. Joseph Polakowski officiated.

Burial was in Spalding Township Cemetery.
