Company H, 8th Michigan Cavalry
From St. Clair County, Michigan, Alonzo enlisted at the age of 17 at St. Clair, Michigan, on November 15, 1861. He mustered in on December 24, 1861. He was injured in an accident and sent to a Detroit Hospital on June 3, 1862. He was discharged for disability and for being a minor (he was actually only 14 when he enlisted) on July 13, 1863.He enlisted again at St. Clair in Company H, 8th Michigan Cavalry on February 16, 1864, and reached the Regiment at Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, in March of 1864. He was injured at Baker's Ferry, Ga or Macon, Ga. He was again sent to a Detroit Hospital and finally discharged at Detroit, Michigan, on May 19, 1865.
