Hiram, the man on the right was from Port Huron, Michigan, he enlisted at Flint on Feb. 16, 1862 at age 36. He re-enlisted at Rossville, Georgia, on Feb. 15, 1864, after rising through the ranks to color sergeant. He was wounded saving the flag March 16, 1863. Before his muster out on July 19, 1865, he had risen to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. This is a postwar photo taken at the 1886 reuninon of the 10th in Battle Creek, Michigan.The man on the left is Marvin C. Barney from Goodrich, Michigan, who enlisted for 3 years service on October 2, 1862 in Company C of the 10th. He re-enlisted at Rossville, Ga, on February 6, 1864 and was promoted to Sergeant. He was in the color guard of the flag of the 10th which was presented to the regiment by the Ladies of Flint in December of 1861 and carried to the close of hostilities in 1865.
