The photo is from page 88 of the GAR Dept. of MI Journal of the Forty-First annual Encampment held at Traverse city June 18,19,20 1919.
 

During the years 1884-1932, Alison was founding Commander of Lonson Post 255, in honor of his brother Pvt. Joseph Lonson Bryant Co. G 23rd MI, who died from wounds received at Resaca, Ga May 14, 1864.  Alison also was Dept. of Michigan National Color -Bearer, Color SGT. (leading many parades) Asst. Quartermaster General, and Junior Vice Commander, as well as Dept Counsel, and served in his retirement as Sergeant at Arms in the Michigan Capitol Senate. He was in charge of the Military Museum in the Capitol and later when it was moved to the "State Building".
