From Bridgewater, Michigan, Chester enlisted June 20, 1861 at Adrian, Michigan for 3 years service at age 18. He was killed in action at the Battle of Chancellorsville, Va on May 5, 1863. This photograph was taken in December of 1862 and sent to his brother as a gift
