Company C, 14th Michigan Infantry
Enlisted at Detroit, Michigan, at age 20 as a sergeant, mustering in on Januaty 7, 1862. Wounded once while arresting a Confederate. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on May 23, 1863, then 1st Lieutenant on July 14, 1864. At the battle of Jonesboro, Ga., on September 1, 1864, he suffered a gunshot and sabre wound to the head and was discharged due to disability on December 15, 1864.
