George W. Casamer

Company D, 22nd Infantry

George enlisted at Orion, Michigan, on June 4, 1864, for 3 years of service at Orion, Michigan, at the age of 18. He mustered in on the same day. He reached the regiment, then at Atlanta, Georgia, on August 26, 1864. On June 26, 1865, he was transferred to Company D, 29th Michigan Infantry, serving as a Fifer. He mustered out at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on September 6, 1865. He died on June 23, 1874, and is buried in Evergreen cemetery at Lake Orion, Michigan. He had the distinction of knowing Johnny Clem.
