George Purdy

Company K, 1st Michigan Infantry

George enlisted on June 23, 1864, from the 6th Congressional District for 3 years service at age 28 as a substitute for a draftee, Henry Hess. He reached the Regiment near Petersburg, Virginia, on October 23, 1865. He was discharged at Washington, D.C., on June 8, 1865. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery at Saginaw, Michigan.

Note the G.A.R. emblem on his watch chain.
