From Canton, Michigan, Henry enlisted on August 13, 1862 at Canton, Michigan, for three years service at the age of 18. He was promoted to Corporal and then to Sergeant on April 1, 1865. He was mustered out at Detroit, Michigan, on June 30, 1865.
