From Venice Township, Shiawassee County, he was born May 22, 1833, in Broome County, New York. Moved to Michigan before 1838. Enlisted in Company H, Twenty-third Infantry, as Sergeant, Aug. 9, 1862, at Corunna, for 3 years, at age 29. Mustered Sept. 12, 1862. Transferred to Veteran Reserve Corps April 30, 1864. Discharged at Detroit, Mich., July 5, 1865, from the Second Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps. Died Feb. 26, 1892.
