From Lenox, Michigan, Linderman enlisted at Ray, Michigan, for 3 years of service at age 29 on August 14, 1862. He took the Muster oath on August 22, 1862. He was discharged for disability at Detroit, Michigan, on April 6, 1863. He is buried at the Lenox Center Cemetery in Richmond, Michigan.In this postwar photo he appears with his wife, Susan Tewksbury, the sister of Lyman Tewksbury who also served in the 22nd Infantry, Company F.
