From Woodland, Mi. William enlisted on August 12, 1862 for 3 years service at the age of 37. He served throughout the war and was killed in action at the Battle of Farmville, Virginia, on April 7, 1865, two days before General Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia. He left a widow and three daughters.
