Bertha K. Brunt Verdon
IDA---Funeral services for Mrs Bertha K. Verdon, 95, of 320 Morocco Rd, Temperance, who died Sunday in Memorial Hospital Unit, Monroe, were today in the Capaul Funeral Home here. The Rev. Donald Daws of Zion United Methodist Church, LaSalle, and the Rev. Paul R. Crabtree officiated.
The daughter of Frank and Emma (Baldwin) Brunt, she was born Feb 19, 1882, in Samaria. She was married to George Verdon on Feb 25, 1903, in her home in Samaria by her uncle, the Rev. Charles Baldwin. Her husband preceded her in death on March 2, 1954.
Surviving are a son, Clyde of Temperance; 5 grandchildren, Alvin Schafer of Temperance, Paul Shhafer of Dundee, Mrs Barbara Laufer of Ann Arbor, Mrs Gloria Bronzell of Romeo, Mich, and Mrs Thelma Centa of Kalamazoo; 7 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Hazen, a daughter, Mrs Frances Schafer, a sister, a brother, and a granddaughter, Carolyn Schafer. Burial was in Lambertville Cemetery. Bearers were Lloyd and Wayne Schafer, Richard Brunt, Alfred Strang, Richard Jones and Alvin Kreps.
