C. D. Van Wassehnova
Charles D. Van Wassehnova, 82, retired farmer and lifelong resident of Newport, died at his home on the Oldport Road at 2:30 a.m. today.
Mr. Van Wassehnova, was born September 25, 1858, at Newport, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Van Wassehnova. He married Miss Pauline Sancraint in St. Charles Church in 1883. Mrs. Wassehnova died November 17, 1938.
He leaves three sons, John P., Henry and LeRoy who are living in Newport, and two daughters, Mrs. Anna Barron and Mrs. Catherine Nadeau of River Rouge. Also surviving are three brothers, Frank, John D. and Benjamin and two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Frankhouse, Mrs. Helen Roberts; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Church of which Mr. Van Wassehnova was a life-long member, and burial will be in St. Charles cemetery. The body will remain at the Allore, Beam and Weber funeral home until time of services. Prayer service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 8 p.m.

The Rev. Fr. Lambert Lavoy officiated the requiem high mass at the services for Charles Van Wassehenova in St. Charles Catholic Church at Oldport this morning. Burial was in St. Charles cemetery with the following acting as pallbearers: Cletus Barron, Levi Frankhouse, Dick Van Wassehnova, Enos Van Wassehnova, Russell Van Wassehnova and Lester Hagerman. Mr. Van Wassehnova died in his home at Newport Wednesday.
