Oct. 11 Injuries Fatal
Trenton - Chauncey B. Roberts, 79, of 21973 Harding St., Rockwood, died Wednesday night in Seaway Hospital, here, of injuries he suffered in a traffic accident Oct. 11 at Telegraph and Ready Rds. He is the 35th person to die as a result of traffic accidents on Monroe County roads this year, which is equal to last year's total at this time. State police of the Flat Rock post said three cars were involved in the would-be fatal crash. Troopers reported the Roberts car was eastbound on Ready Rd. when it failed to stop at the sign at Telegraph Rd. and entered the intersection. The car drove in front of one driven by Deborah Chesney, 18, of 25180 West Rd., Flat Rock. Troopers said the Chesney auto attempted to stop but after impact, it spun away and was struck by a second northbound car driven by Hugh J. Rooney of Akron, Ohio. Police said the Roberts car then slammed into a building which houses the Miller Equipment co. at 12006 Telegraph Rd., damaging the garage door and knocking down the east wall. Mr. Roberts had been hospitalized until his death. Deborah Chesney was injured in the accident and had been hospitalized at Seaway Hospital for several days but later was released.
