Straub, aged 58 years, a farmer from London township, died at his home five miles west of Maybee [Monroe, Michigan] this morning at 7:15 o’clock. He had been ill with double pneumonia for the past week.Born, November 19, 1881, he was the son of Valentine and Elizabeth [Lizzie] Straub, and lived in London township all his life. He married Miss Rose Rothman of London township, March 25, 1902. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, mrs. Leo Diehl of Monroe; three sons, Edward of Detroit, Albert and Kenneth, at home; his mother, Mrs. Straub; two grandchildren, Robert and Dorothy Diehl; and a brother, Dan Straub of Detroit. [Funeral] Services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home. Interment will be in London cemetery. The body will be taken from the Liedel funeral home this evening. At the time of his death, Mr. Straub was justice of the peace of London township.

Straub of London township were held Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. W.H. Tirrell of Jeddo, a former pastor of the London Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial was in the London cemetery. Pallbearers were Reuben Scott, Bert Webb, Herman Holmes, Fred, Charles and George Rothman.* * *Edward [Valentine] StraubSpecial to the Evening News [of Monroe, Michigan] WEST LONDON [Monroe, Michigan], March 16 – A large number of friends and relatives gathered at the Straub farm on Allison road Sunday afternoon for the funeral of Edward V. Straub, a life-long resident of London township. The Rev. W.H. Tirrell, a Methodist pastor of Jeddo and a former pastor in London, officiated. Interment was in London cemetery.
