George W. Yarger

George W. Yarger, son of John and Margaretta Kelly Yarger, was born in Westmoreland County, Penn, Dec 19, 1832 and in 1850 came with his parents in old fashion moving vans to LaSalle, Mich. Later they moved to Yargerville, which was named after his family. On January 1, 1863, he was united in marriage with Catherine J. Zacharias and he with his family moved to his present home near Samaria, Mich, 37 years ago and with the exception of three and a half years resided in Toledo, Ohio. He remained here until his death, which occurred after one week's illness with pneumonia on Jan 24, 1920, aged 87 years, one month and five days. He had been active and worked all the time up to the time of his illness. His wife preceded him in death nearly 13 years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Misses Carrie and Barbara, one son, Harbine, two grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Barbara Verdon, and one brother, David. Six sisters and four brothers having preceded him in death. He was a kind father and neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, Jan 27, at the Neriah church. Rev. E. Perone officiating, interment on the family lot in the Neriah cemetery.
