Joseph Doyle
The remains of Joseph Doyle, one of Monroe’s old boys, were brought to this city last Friday morning and his Requiem Mass was sung by Fr. Downey in
St. Mary’s church where the deceased had been baptized. He died on Wednesday at his home in Detroit from gastritis being ill only a few hours. Mr. Doyle was well known in this city and his sudden death was a great shock to all his friends. The esteem in which he was held by his friends was evidenced by the number of people who came from Detroit and by the great number of floral pieces which were most beautiful. After Fr. Downey had said a few consoling words to the bereaved family his body was borne to St. Joseph’s cemetery and laid to rest at the side of his illustrious father and mother who were among the first people of our city some years ago. He leaves a widow to whom he was married less than a year, three brothers and one sister, all of whom have the sincere sympathy of our people.
