Mrs. Jacob Friedt

In the early morning of Nov 6, 1901, Mrs Jacob Friedt (Mary L. Brown) of this village bid adieu to earthly friends and scenes and took departure for her heavenly home. Mary Brown, daughter of George and Electa Brown, was born in Deerfield, Mich., Aug 9, 1848, being the oldest of eight children and the first to depart this life. Was married on Christmas, 1868, to Jacob Friedt, who is left with three daughters--Mrs Ella Matthias and Mrs Etta Matlock, of Toledo, and Mrs Myrtle Viets, of Sandwich, Ill., to mourn the loss of a faithful and loving wife and mother.

Her funeral was held at the M.E. church, of which she was a member, and under the auspices of the W.R.C. and G.A.R. A large concourse of sympathizing friends and neighbors was in attendance, and a very able and helpful sermon was preached by her pastor, Rev. N. Norton Clark. The singing was appropriate and comforting.
