Vitals | James Losinger was born in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, 29 Dec 1844, to John and Mary J. (Hubbard) Losinger. On 10 May 1866 he married Ellen Roxana Lent in Tioga County. She was the daughter of John W. and Sarah E. Lent. She was born 10 Aug 1847 in Tioga County. James and Ellen had these children: James Edward (1867-1867); Mary J. (1870-1880); Ada Ellen (1873-) wife of Wesley J. Thorp; John (1877-1892); Addie (1879-1887); Blanche Lida (1883-1959) wife Merritt Freeman Butler; and Eliza B. Ellen died 4 Mar 1918 in Howard City, Montcalm County, MI and is buried in Reynolds Township Cemetery. On 6 Sep 1918, James married Celeste Lettie (Sturdavant) Davis in Reed City, Osceola County MI. She was born in Ohio, 18 Jan 1853, to Able Sturdavant and Amelia Cummins. Her first husband was John Davis. She died in Battle Creek, Calhoun County, MI, 18 Dec 1923. James died of heart disease 22 Sep 1924 in Reed City, Osceola County, MI. He is also buried in Reynolds Township Cemetery. |

Service | James Losinger enlisted at Williamsport, PA as a private in Company A, 73rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Second Brigade, 2nd Division, Butler's A. C. He fought at Big Bethel and Fort Fisher, was wounded in the foot by a piece of shell and sent to the hospital in February 1866. He remained there until the close of the war, first at Wilmington, North Carolina and then was trasferred to David's Island, NY. He received his honorable discharge 14 Jul 1865 in New York City. John was unable to do manual labor due to his wounds and hardhips endured in the service. He was pensioned. | ||

Siblings | Brothers Isaac J. and Sylvester J. Losinger were in the service. Isaac was in the 37th PA Volunteer Infantry. Sylvester served in the 6th PA "Bucktails" and was wounded in the left arm at Spottsylvania Court House. | ||
