| Vitals | Morris/Maurice Fowler was born 24 Jul 1817 near Bennington, VT. He was the son of William M. and Lyda (Clear) Fowler. On 12 Jul 1840 Morris married Louisa Coleman in Onondage County, NY. She was born 4 Jul 1823 at Elbridge, Onondaga County to Ezekiel and Elizabeth (Lamb) Coleman. They settled in Montcam County, MI, in 1868. Morris had blue eyes, brown hair, ruddy complexion and stood 5 feet 8 inches tall, according to the muster roll. Their children were: William H. (1840-1862); Gillman P./Gilbert P. (1844-1914) husband of Mae Emma Tooley, Mary Havens and Sarah A. Stein; Charlotte M. (1845-1920) wife of ___ Bailey and Robert F. Williams; Erastus M. (1848-1907) husband of Mary Louisa Brooks; Esther E. (1851-1926) wife of Duane A. Newman; Alice (1853-1917); Charles F. (1859-1937) husband of Minnie Mary Hawes; and Enos (1867-). Morris died from general disability; never able to work or take a step after he came back from the service. He died in 1892. Louisa died 29 Jun 1902 of old age, found dead in her bed. |

| Service | At the age of 44 Maurice Fowler enlisted 1 Sep 1861 from Syracuse, NY. He was a private in Company I, 101st New York Volunteer Infantry. In February and March of 1862 he was in the hospital at Syracuse suffering from general debility, and again at Hancock, New York, for the same reason, receiving an honorable discharge 7 Mar 1862, at Hancock, New York. He was pensioned. | ||
