Vitals | Moses Harrington was born in Marcellus, Onondaga County, NY, 10 Jun 1836. He was the son of David and Lyrrissa Harrington. Moses first married Melissa Lindsay. Secondly, he married 11 Nov 1879 in La Crosse, WI, Jennie Straley, the daughter of John and Sarah (Cook) Straley. She was born in Pennsylvania in April of 1862. They came to Montcalm County 8 Mar 1893. He was in Greenville and Gowen. A daughter, Jaenni May Harrington (1880-) was born in LaCrosse, WI to Moses H. Harrington and Jennie Stearly. Moses worked as a carpenter and basket maker. Moses died in Center Township, Grant County, IN, 24 Mar 1903. He had suffered from Brights Disease. Jennie Harrington is listed in Marion, Grant County, Indiana on S. Washington St. in the 1930 census. She is in Marion as a lodger in 1940. Jennie died 8 Sep 1946 in Marion. Her address on the death record is 1524 S. Nash St. She is buried in Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville, MI, according to the death record. |

Service | Moses Harrington was farming in Glenmore, Oneida County, NY, when he joined the army at Utica, NY. He was 24 years old when he enlisted in Company E, 26th New York Volunteer Infantry on 6 May 1861 as a private. He fought at Haymarket and Second Bull Run and was wounded at Second Bull Run by a ball in the right leg below the knee. He was detailed on special service at Washington, D. C. with ambulance for ten days and finally received an honorable discharge at Utica, NY, 28 May 1863. He was pensioned. He recieved a pension in 1875 in the state of New York. In Gowen, MI, 1899, $6-$8. Widow's pension filed 2 Apr 1903 in Indiana. | ||

Siblings | Brithers Benjamin Franklin and David Harrington were also in the Civil War. Edward Straley, a brother of his wife Jennie, served in the 21st Michigan Infantry. He also had a grandfather on his mother's side who fought in the Revolution and lived to the age of 108 years. | ||
