Richard Miller of Greenville
Michigan House of Representatives - 1871

Richard Miller was born in 1820, the son of Isaac D. and Deborah Miller. The family moved from New York to Michigan in 1830, first settling in Detroit and later in Eureka Township, Montcalm County.

Richard married Nancy Carpenter and in 1844 they farmed in Fairplains Township, Montcalm County. Richard was elected Township Treasurer, served two terms on the state legislature, served on the Board of Superintendents of the Poor, was appointed county agent to the State Board of Corrections for ten years, and deacon of the Congregational Church.

In later years Richard and Nancy resided at the corner of Webster and Montcalm Streets in Greenville.
