Trufant History - 1987 |

| The Trufant History was published in 1987 after several years assembling and editing photos and stories. The editor, Josephine Sears of Trufant, has allowed me to copy and share the history through the internet. If you know Mrs. Sears please remember to thank her for allowing us to enjoy her work.
Only a true historian is so quick to allow such access to their work in a no-profit environment. The following is the introduction from the history book and many of the web pages found on the "Trufant Area" home page are directly from the history book. IN THIS, THE SESQUICENTENNIAL YEAR OF OUR STATES HISTORY, THIS IS A RECORD IN PRINTED FORM, ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN AND AROUND TRUFANT, MAPLE VALLEY TOWNSHIP, MONTCALM COUNTY, STATE OF MICHIGAN. THERE IS REFERENCE TO AREAS SURROUNDING TRUFANT, BUT THESE AREAS HAVE PLAYED SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR AREA THAT IT WAS FELT SUCH INFORMATION SHOULD BE AVAILABLE BY THOSE WISHING TO READ IT. THIS BOOK IS THE RESULT OF COMBINED EFFORTS OF A MULTITUDE OF TRUFANT RESIDENTS. AFTER ABOUT FOUR YEARS OF SEARCHING RECORDS AND COMPILING INFORMATION WILLINGLY GIVEN BY RESIDENTS OF THIS AREA, WE HOPE THIS WILL INTEREST MORE PERSONS IN THE HISTORICAL AND GENEALOGICAL MATTERS THAT CONCERN US. NO EFFORT HAS BEEN MADE TO ESTABLISH THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE INFORMATION BUT IT IS FELT AN HONEST ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE. ALL THE WORK HAS BEEN DONE WITH VOLUNTEER LABOR, THERE CAN BE A FEW MISTAKES FOUND. THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE MADE THIS BOOK POSSIBLE BY THEIR GENEROUS LOAN OF HISTORICAL PICTURES, THOSE WHO HAVE GIVEN THEIR TIME AND THOUGHT IN PREPARING THE WRITTEN MATERIAL AND TO EVERYONE WHO HAS ASSISTED IN ANY WAY IN THE PREPARATION OF THIS BOOK.
