Submitted by mailto:VJ042846@aol.com ************************************************************************ Harry J. Haynes was born Aug. 2, 1877 around Fenton, Mich. His "mother" was Mary A. Gere/Geer/Geere/Gear and his "father" was James Morris Haynes. Harry's mother had a first "husband" by the name of DeWitt(e). He may be Choctaw. Mary Gear Haynes had two children when she married J. Moris Haynes. I do not know if Harry was adopted by her or if she is is his birth mother. He may have been an infant found by Hiram Haynes of Ingham county, who had friendly Chippewa living close to his home. Harry left Michigan after 1900 and came to Ohio where he married Myrtle Rose Keeney. They had two children, Faye(1905) and Carol C.(1907), but Harry did not fit in well. He wasn't liked, and he was driven off mostly by Annie Belle Keeney, who was a troublemaker. Harry went back to Mich. and lived with his mother in Detroit. She died in 1927. Later, Harry got his SS card in 1937 and moved to St. Petersburg, Fl. He died April 18, 1966. He is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg. Fl. My mother, Carol C. Haynes Hall, never knew her father. Her mother never mentioned him. If anyone has any information on Harry Jay(Gardner) Haynes, like if he was sent to Industrial school, or any adoption records, or marriage records. I can't find any marriage records anywhere. Any information will be appreaciated. Thank you and may the Creator bless you. ***************************************************************** USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
