Miller, age 67, of 5993 Co. Rd. CD in Ely Twp., passed away on Sunday June 17, 2001 at his home. Gary was born August 2, 1933 in Marinette, WI to the late Clarence and Cecelia (Derusha) Miller. He was a graduate of the Menominee High School, Class of 1951. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Gary worked in the construction industry in Menominee Co., Marquette Co. at the Tilden Mine, then worked in the Western United States and Hong Kong, retiring in 1991 as supervisor. Upon his retirement he moved to the Ishpeming area. He was a member of the American Legion- Lil-Larson Post, and was a member of the Mackinac Band of Chippewa Indians. Survivors include his wife of 24 years- Betty of Ishpeming; 2 daughters- Christy (Jim) VanCourt of Rapid River and Connie Miller of Menominee; 2 sons- Paul (Lori) Miller of Escanaba and Clark (Jackie) Miller of Marinette, WI; a sister Gladys Marcus of Escanaba and a brother Franklin (Marlene) Biernat of Rice Lake, WI; 10 grandchildren- Jeremy VanCourt, Adam, Jessica, Michael, Kelly, Teresa, Ryan, Christy Jo and Mandy Miller, and Nicholas Davis; step-children- Carol (Boyde) Bergum of MS, Jan (Marv) Swanson, Ralph (Debbie) Pellow and Doug Pellow all of Ishpeming; step-grandchildren- Dana Sullivan, Eric and Jason Bergum, Jeramy, LeeAnn and Danielle Pellow, and Mike and Stephanie Swanson. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert and a sister Elaine. There will be no visitation or services per Gary's request. The Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
