"Butch" Piskorz (January 10, 1950-May 28, 2001) ISHPEMING - John "Butch" Piskorz, age 51 of 201 Poplar St. Ishpeming died on Monday, May 28, 2001 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Butch was born January 10, 1950 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to John & the late Dorothy (LaVake) Piskorz. He grew up in St. Ignace & graduated from LaSalle High School in 1968. Butch attended various schools, including the Dental Technical School at Wayne State University, the Jacobetti Skill Center where he obtained certificates in welding, refrigeration, heating & air conditioning. He also took part in the millwright apprenticeship training program & for the past several years was employed as a millwright & boilermaker at various power plants, paper mills & for the local mining industry. Butch was a member of the Michigan Council of Carpenters, Upper Peninsula Local 1510. He was also a member of the Sault Ste. Marie tribe ofthe Chippewa Indians. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming. Butch enjoyed spending time as a commercial fisherman on the Great Lakes, other hobbies included hunting & gardening. He was an avid sports fan, but his greatest joy was his family. He married the former Lois A. Solka of Ishpeming on March 22, 1975. He is survived by his wife Lois, daughters Leslie of Marquette and Lindsay at home, and a much loved granddaughter Natalie age 1 1/2. Butch also leaves his father John & step mother Barbara of Cape Coral, FL, his brothers Gary & Alan (Deb) of Boca Raton, FL, Mark (Lee) of Scottsboro, AL, Rick (Heather) of Atlanta, GA & Chris of Cape Coral, FL. He is also survived by several step-siblings, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Piskorz in 1977. A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Rhoades of the First United Methodist Church of Marquette officiating, along with Sister Marge Schmelzle of the Sacred Heart Church of Champion. The family will greet friends & relatives on Thursday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home from 4:00p.m. until the time of service.
