Connors, age 70, of Zeba, passed away Monday, April 9, 2001, at Marquette General Hospital. She was born on June 12, 1930, in L'Anse, daughter to the late William and Catherine "Margie" (Shofield) Emery. She grew up in L'Anse, then moved to Milwaukee, where she had lived for 50 years, moving to Zeba in 1996. Mary married Gerald Connors in 1970 in Zion, IL. She was a nurse and ran Hilltop House Nursing in Milwaukee. Mary was a member of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Zeba, KBIC, and the Ojibwa Seniors. Mary had a love for her dogs. She is survived by her husband Gerald of Zeba, son Patrick Connors of Zeba, brothers William (Gretchen) Emery, James (Millie) Emery both of Zeba, sisters Pat (Ray) Kemppainen of Baraga, Beverly (Pete) Ellsworth, and Gwen Loonsfoot both of Zeba, and many nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her brothers Gerald "Tippy" and Ron Emery, sisters Jacqueline Cote and Virginia Shelifoe. The funeral mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Holy Name of Jesus Church in Assinins. The visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. Burial will be in the Indian Pinery Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nephews Mark and Anthony Emery, Charles and Dan Gauthier, Jim and Jerry Shelifoe. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is in charge of arrangements.
