Russell "King" Theodore Nesberg Sr. 
(September 17, 1937-December 6, 2002)

MUNISING -- Russell "King" Theodore Nesberg Sr., age 65, of N7061 Indiantown Road, Munising, died at 
his home in the early morning of Friday, December 6, 2002 following a lengthy illness. King was born 
on September 17, 1937 in Shingleton, Michigan to the late Russell and Sadie (James) Nesberg. He was a 
truck driver before he married Sheena Jane Hancock on July 11, 1960. King continued to drive the first
years of their marriage and he also worked as a mechanic and carpenter. He worked construction all 
over the Upper Peninsula before he and Sheena moved to Lapeer, Michigan for ten years. King returned 
to the U.P. in 1974 and he worked as a carpenter for Larry Wys for many years. He was a member of the
Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. King also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and bird
watching. Years ago, he enjoyed playing guitar and he could also play the harmonica. 

He is survived by his wife of over forty-two years, Sheena Nesberg of Munising; two children, Russell
Theodore (Susan) Nesberg, Jr. of Brevort, MI and Hope Ann Nesberg Belfry of St. Ignace, MI; 
granddaughter, Michele Ann Shelly of Shingleton; and great-grandson, Daniel Lee Long of Shingleton; 
a sister, Carol (Walt) Strauser of Manistique; a brother, Wallace (Gail) Nesberg of Van Meer, and 
numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, 
Donald "Buck" Nesberg, and a sister, Patricia Shortridge.

Pastors Kurt and Mary Beth Kovanen will conduct a memorial service on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 
1:00 p.m. at the Eden Lutheran Church in Munising. Inurnment will be at the Munising Township 
Cemetery in Wetmore, Michigan.
