The first annual meeting of the Township of Ashland was held at the house of Sullivan Armstrong on April 2nd. , 1855, and Sullivan Armstrong was appointed the first Supervisor of Ashland. When the Ashland Center Post Office was established on May 6th., 1879, Sullivan Armstrong was appointed the first Postmaster. With Cassius M. Woodard the second Postmaster, follow by James Sharp, George Bartlett, Robert Neil, Exastus S. Burrill and Joseph W. Pollard On Dec. 17th., 1894, after the Ashland Post Office, which was located two miles east of Ashland Center, changed their name to Grant Station in 1892, the Ashland Center Post Office changed their name to Ashland. George A Pollard was the Postmaster at that time and continued until the post office was discontinued on April 6th., 1904, and the mail went to Grant.
