Beaver Post Office was established on Aug. 2nd, 1872, with Albertus M. Andrus as the Postmaster. The post office was discontinued on Feb, 18th. , 1874. The office was located on the east side of section # 6 of Beaver Township, it can be found on the 1873 map of Newaygo County. On this map you can see another post office called Allen Creek about three miles northwest of Beaver just across the line in Leavitt Township, Oceana County.

On July 24th., 1889, another post office called Kirk was established at the same location as the Beaver Post Office was at. Albertus Andrus was also the Postmaster of this post office. (This location later became known as Troy.) The post office was discontinued on April 14th., 1904, with the mail going to Walkerville.
