The Greenwood Post Office was located on the farm of Oliver Swain in the north part of Greenwood Township, Oceana County, which is now Newfield Township, Oceana County. Swain was the first Postmaster. In 1867 the office moved to the settlement of Hesperia, on the Oceana County side of the county line. On Oct. 23rd., 1871 the office moved across the road into the Newaygo County and took the name of the settlement. "Hesperia". The settlement was incorporated as a village in 1883. On Nov. 17th.,1897 the office was moved back across the road onto the Oceana County side. The post office has moved back and forth between the two counties several times over the years. The office is now located on the Oceana County side of the village. Hesperia is still a post office with a ZIP Code of 49421
