Hawkins Post Office 1889-1906

Hawkins Post Office was established on Nov. 13th., 1889. The office was named after George Hawkins who had a general store at the corner of Section 2,3,10 and 11 of Barton Township. The office was located in his store and he was the first Postmaster. The settlement around the store became known as Hawkins On. Oct. 12th., 1891, William L. Remington became the Postmaster. He had a store across the road from George Hawkins. The office was discontinued April 14th., 1906, with the mail going to Reed City Post Office in Osceola County.
