Mitchell's Prairie Post Office was established February 6, 1868 with Samuel Mitchell as the Postmaster. The office was discontinued on March 1, 1870. Nothing else can be found about this office but it must have been located in Big Prairie Township on the south side of the Muskegon River. A small prairie located there is still called Mitchell Prairie. Samuel Mitchell was the only Postmaster. |
