Farmer, section 3, Dayton Township, was a son of Philetus and Mary A. (Larkins) Monroe, and was born in Summit Co., Ohio, January 26, 1847. His parents moved to the State of New York, and afterward to Michigan. In the spring of 1864, his father purchased 160 acres of land, which Charles assisted in cultivating. T.C. Grundy later owned this farm.
In Dayton Township, Nov. 9, 1873, he married Kate, daughter of Lyman and Mary Britton. Their children were Charles B., Willie R., Georgie G. and Ora B. Mr. Monroe was a Republican.
