JOHN W. HEWETT, butcher and dealer in groceries and provisions, at Woodville, was born in Cayuga Co., N.Y., Feb. 16, 1837, and is the son of George W. and Mary (Farley) Hewett, natives of the State of New York.
Mr. Hewett was educated in the common schools and was principally reared on a farm. In 1880 he came to Newaygo County and entered into his present occupation at Woodville. His business has grown extensive and progitable, including a large section of the surrounding country, where he supplies the numerous lumber camps.
He was married in 1857, to Hannah C., daughter of Stephen G. and Esther (Cone) March. She was born in ONtario Co., N.Y., and of her marriage to Mr. Hewitt five children have been born: Ralph W., Flora, Charles, Etta and Mary. Leslie and Geroula are deceased.
