John W. Hopper, merchant, Fremont, was born in the State of New York, Dec. 7, 1860, and attended the common schools of New York, Michigan and Illinois. On leaving school he was employed in the grocery store of R. N. Lloyd for three years, and was afterward employed as clerk in the store of M. B. Franklin six years. In 1881, he formed a partnership with C. C. Mericle, for the purpose of opening a business in dry-goods, boots and shoes, and clothing, under the firm name of Mericle & Hopper. This enterprise has been very successful.
Mr. H. is a young man of industrious habits, is energetic, and has the reputation of being a shrewd business manager. In politics, he is a National.
