William A. Boyd, farmer, section 8, son of Richard Boyd, was born in Ohio, Dec. 27, 1848. At the age of five years he came with his parents to Hillsdale Co., Mich., where he lived until he came to Newaygo County, here he engaged in farming. In the fall of 1882 he built a steam sawmill in Sheridan Township, which has a capacity of 12,000 feet per day. He was a member of the Order of Good Templars, and in politics was a National.
