Francis Peaks

Francis Peaks was born 1820 in Ramsey, Cambrigeshire, England. He died 3 Apr 1865 in New Bern, NC. The cause of death was Typhoid fever. He was buried 6 May 1865 in New Bern, NC.  Francis had dark hair, dark complexion and blue eyes and was 5' 5" tall.(From Civil War records). He enlisted in the Co. A 21st Infantry at GrandRapids, for one year on Aug. 31, 1864 at age 44.

On the Muster Roll of Co. A of MI Regiment, for the months of March and April 1865, he is reported "absent sick at Goldsboro, NC, since April 20/65 - nature of sickness not stated".    Records on file reports him "died of Typhoid Fever May 3, 1865" at Foster General Hospital at New Bern, NC. He died in the Presbyterian Church (which was used as a general hospital), during the Civil War. He was buried in the New Bern, NC National Cemetery, at 3 p.m., plot 658, A row.

Francis married Jane LINFORD, daughter of William LINFORD and Eleanor Robinson, 7 Apr 1841, in March, Cambridge, England. Jane was born Abt 1820 in March, Cambridgeshire, England. She died 1913 in Coral, MI. She was buried 1913 in Lot 289 - Everett Twp. Big Prairie Cemetery, MI.
