We are searching for a very slim family line on my wife's side. We have information from the 1880 census that Albia LEGG was living in Oceana County (Shelby) and was a farmer.
We have a birthdate only of December of 1854 in Michigan. His wife was named Belle (born in June of 1854) and they had two children, Winnie (my wife's grandmother) born in 1879 and a son Guy (born in 1855). Albia apparently had a second wife Anna, born about 1863.

Benjamin Franklin BOGUE born 2 Feb 1836 Colebrook Ashtabula Ohio; died

were married 15 July 1860 in Claybanks Township, Oceana County. She died 23 Jun 1913 also presumably in Oceana County.
Their children were:
Josephine Louraine BOGUE born 14 Mar 1861 Georgetown Ottawa MI
married Johnson Lamont BEZZO 11 Dec 1879
Mary Sophronia BOGUE born 3 Jan 1863 Georgetown Ottawa MI
married Charles HUSTON 1 May 1881; died after 1944
Francis Marion BOGUE born 9 Aug 1863 Georgetown Ottawa MI
died before 1870
Benjamin BOGUE born 16 Jun 1867 Georgetown Ottawa MI
died Oct 1937
Julia Celia BOGUE born 4 Jul 1876 Flower Creek, Oceana, MI
married Orton Bennett PERRINE 7 Apr 1897 Shelby, Oceana MI
died 27 Sept 1944 Hoquiam WA (Julia is my great grandmother.)
Mildred A BOGUE born 26 Feb 1883 Flower Creek, Oceana MI
died 12 Nov 1895
Other information:
Sarah A PERRY was the daughter of Oliver C. PERRY, born 1815 at a
unknown
city in NY and
Sophronia, unknown last name, born 1815 in Maine. Oliver PERRY is
listed
in the 1860 US census in Claybanks Township as Age 45. He is also
listed
in the 1870 census, at Claybanks, Flower Creek post office.
Oliver PERRY is not in the 1880 census, but Sophronia PERRY is listed
as
a
mother in law in the household of her son-in-law Benjamin BOGUE at
Claybanks. So I have assumed Oliver died sometime between 1870 and
1880.
I have been able to trace the BOGUE line back to Connecticut, but I
have
not been able to connect Oliver Perry to anyone in New York. I have
checked the census index for 1850 in New York and cannot seem to find
the
right family.

I am seeking verification of the correct first name of my paternal great grandfather known by some as Frank STRUTHERS.
Others have told me his real name was Torrence Dorwin STRUTHERS. I found the name Frank on his son's birth record.
This man was reportedly a member of one of the founding families of Shelby, Oceana co, Michigan and was born in Canada(according to the census) about 1848.
Any information was be greatly appreciated.

DEGROOT, Harke (Harry) (born 10-June-1850) and BOONSTRA DYKSTRA, Anthe (Anna) (born 28 July 1848) Immigrated from Netherlands (probably Friesland) to New Era in 1884.
Arrived with children (Americanized names): John, Walter, Bert, Gertrude, Jessie, Oscar, Harry.
Remained in New Era until 1889 when family moved to Antrim County, Michigan.
Harke and Antje probably came to New Era because they had Dutch friends or family there. Looking for anyone with any connection to this family.

George P. ALLEN -- born 1836 Ashtabula Co., Ohio to Robert and Elizabeth (WHEADON) ALLEN.
Married Sarah J. ODELL in Ashtabula Ohio 1864. They moved to Michigan late 1860's, in Oceana Co. ,Claybanks Twp.
He served in the Civil War and has a G.A.R. Post # 7 on his gravesite in Pinegrove Cemetary. Old # 7 is from Muskegon County.
I checked there for his unit,no luck! He is not listed in the index for Michigan soldiers and sailors. He is listed in the Michigan living survivors book, published 1894.
Question: How do I find his military unit in Ohio or perhaps Pennsylvania, if he crossed over and volunteered there?????? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Rex R. Allen (great grandson)

After the Civil War, three brothers migrated from Chemung Co., NY to Oceana
Co., MI:
1. David Edson LATTIN (b. 1829 NY, d. 1890 MI) with his second wife Mary
ROBERTS (b. 1840 OH) of De Kalb Co., IL.
His first wife, Charlotte LATHROP (b.
1836 NY, d. 1854 NY), had died in New York leaving one son, Anthony Thompson
LATTIN (b. 1855 NY) who also came to Oceana County where he married Elizabeth
Martha CROFF (b. 1858 IL) in 1875.
They lived in Elbridge Twp.
2. Sylvester LATTIN (b. 1832 NY, d. 1904 MI) where he married his second wife
(2) Julia L. HURNIE (b. 1862 IN, d. 1938 MI) of De Kalb Co. IN in 1886.
Sylvester's first wife was (1) Jennie VANORTHWICK of Hillsdale, MI, but since
she and her two children were living with her parents in Hillsdale in the 1880
Census, I assume she never made the trip to Oceana Co.
3. Horace LATTIN (b. 1843 NY, d. 1916 MI) with his wife (my ggm) (1) Philena
MILLSPAUGH (b. 1850 NY, d. 1873 MI) and their two children, Edson and Elsie.
Philena died in childbirth with my grandfather, Elmer Guy LATTIN, and Horace
subsequently married four more times:
a. (2) Anna M. JOHNSON (b. 1854 Canada, d. 1889 MI); three children: Edwin (b.
1874/75), Ernest (b. 1878), and Ella (b. 1880).
b. (3) Nancy A. CASMELL (nee FLETCHER) (b. 1840 OH, d. 1900 MI).
c. (4) Mary E. BROOKS (nee COURNER) (b. abt. 1860 MI).
d. (5) Mary B. STOCKWELL (nee SHANNON) (b. abt. 1846 NY).
Looking for information, documents, stories, photos, etc. on ancestors or
descendants of these three. I already have considerable information I would
be willing to share, especially on Horace and family.
