While Abner Z. Hoyt was not a resident of Oceana Co., he was married here with his brother and his wife as witnesses. (They resided in Oceana Co. - Not sure which township, but assume Pentwater).

Mary May Parker was employed by Jane A. Hoyt (Abner Hoyt's first wife who passed away September 1871) as housekeeper (per Mary Parker's affidavit in Abner's pension file) at the time of Jane's death. It is unclear how long she had been employed, but I would assume starting when Jane fell ill.

For Mary May Parker, this was her second marriage. Parker is not her maiden name. She had been married previously (and divorced in either 1868 or 1870 in Ludington, Mason Co) to a Samuel Parker and had 4 other children with that union (Divorce records destroyed in the big fire in Ludington - date unk before 1902). Abner and May Parker had no children together.
