Evart Review - 2 April 1880 THE ELECTIONS As far as heard from up to this writing the result of the spring election throughout the State is in every way most encouraging to the Republicans. They have made heavy gains in many of the large cities, gaining signal victories over the combined forces of the Nationals and democrats, showing very clearly that the party is thoroughly united, and will go into the approaching campaign with a solid front. In this county party lines were drawn only in a few townships. Below we give a list of the officers elected in each township as far as heard from. The vote on the amendment to the constitution is very light owing to the fact that tickets were not provided. The vote in this township (Osceola) was Yes 59, No 13 In Evart Township Yes 41, No 15. Majority for the amendment in these two townships 82. A vote taken to ascertain preferences in regard to the candidates prominent among Republicans for the Presidency, showed in Osceola Township as follows: Blaine 55, Sherman 9, Grant 5, Edmonds 3.
