April 11, 2001 Herald Times Dorus C. "Buddy" Bocook, 52, of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2001 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Mr. Bocook was born Oct. 20, 1948 in Elmira, the son of Wayne and Inez (Larson) Bocook. Buddy had been employed at LaSenorita Restaurant the past 14 years and prior to that time had worked at the Towncrest Restaurant and the Gaylord Big Boy. He loved his extended family at LaSenorita and the Gaylord community and deeply appreciated their many acts of kindness during his illness. He had served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Bocook is survived by his sister, Bernadine (Tom) Brothers of Three Rivers; his niece, Teri (Jeffery) Briggs of Kalamazoo; his nephew, Thomas Jr. (Melanie) Brothers of Kalamazoo; two great-nephews, Joshua and William Briggs; and longtime friend and roommate, Jim Duffield of Gaylord. He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Inez. Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home was Tuesday and will be today (Wednesday) from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral services, at 2 p.m. from the Nelson Funeral Home. The Rev. John Naile will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Gaylord. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the Nelson Funeral Home. |
