Title: Otsego County Herald-Times Newspaper Publication Date: 26 Sept 2001 Submitted by David Koscielniak Mary Koscielniak Mary Koscielniak, 97, of Gaylord, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. She was born in Leisenring, PA. on Aug 15 1904 and had lived in the Gaylord area since 1907. Mrs. Koscielniak, the former Mary Blachowiak, married Anthony Koscielniak on June 29, 1926 at St. Mary Church in Gaylord. Mrs. Koscielniak was a member of St. Mary Cathedral Parish. She was a 20-year employee of the Chalet Restaurant, beginning her career at the Chalet at the age of 60 and retiring at the age of 80. She enjoyed being a homemaker, baking, quilting, and reading. She loved the companionship of her grandchildren who frequently visited her home. She also enjoyed family gatherings, especially for her birthday and Christmas Eve. Mrs. Koscielniak was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony, on Aug. 31, 1969 and her great-granddaughter Jessica Tomaski on Oct 5, 1997. She is survived by her children, Katherine (Casimer) Tomaski of Gaylord, Leon (Louise) Koscielniak of Gaylord, Clara (Eugene) Dobrzelewski of Gaylord, Florian (Felicia) Koscielniak of Gaylord and Barbara (Robert) Noirot of Gaylord; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and her nephew, Louis Kujawa of Chicago. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. from St. Mary Cathedral, the Rev. John McCracken, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Gaylord. Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m., and on Thursday at the church beginning at 10 a.m. The St. Mary Altar Rosary Society will offer a rosary Wednesday at 2 p.m. A parish wake service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m. Masses or memorial contributions to St. Mary Cathedral School may be made through Nelson Funeral Home. |
