HOLLAND BAPTISTS TO

DEDICATE NEW CHURCH

The dedication of the Holland Baptist church at Quarry and West Leonard streets will take place next Friday evening. The Rev. D. Lannsma, pastor of the church, will deliver the dedicatory address. Preceding this address the reports of the president and secretary of the committee that has been in charge of the work of building the new, church will be given and following it there will be singing by one of the Sunday school classes. The exercises will close with an address by the Rev. William P. Lovett.

The Holland Baptist church was organized in 1894, and the present pastor was ordained the same year. In twelve years the membership has grown from six to 112. The first of the meetings on Sunday forenoons were held at the home of one of the church’s deacons, and in the evening in the parlors of the Fountain Street Baptist Church.

In 1895, the first chapel was built on McReynolds street and this was enlarged in 1896. In August, last year, work on the new church was begun. The structure, with lot included will cost about $5,000. It has a seating capacity of 400 in the auditorium and lecture room.
