of this event, a Jubilee Service will be held at the morning service, in the

by the regular organist, Miss Grace Merkins.
An evening Jubilee Service will be conducted at 8:00 o'clock, with the Rev. W.
Luebke of Muskegon delivering the sermon. V. J. Schulz of Grand Rapids will be

cordial invitation is extended to everyone.
St. Luke's Church was established 20 April 1902, the Rev. Carl Hugh of Trinity
Evangelical Lutheran church of Muskegon being asked to conduct a German service
every third Sunday of the month. Inasmuch as the newly established congregation
was without a church building, divine services were conducted in the Taylor
School in Crockery township.
The charter members of St. Luke's were: John Hecksel, Sr., Wm Barbrick, Karl
Barbrick, Edmund Werley, Emil Peiler and John Hecksel, Jr. 9 October 1902, the
constitution of the congregation was adopted. In the later part of August, 1906,
Rev. Carl Huth accepted a call to Freedom, PA., and a call was extened to Pastor
J. C. Lohrmann who accepted and was install as pastor of the Nunica
congregation, 11 November 1906 by the Rev. A. W. Schultz of Montague.
On 21 January 1912, the new church was dedicated. Up until this time divine
services were conducted twice every month in the Congregational church. 21
August 1928, the congregation celebrated its annual Mission Festival in
conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the founding of the congregation.
Pastor Lohrmann, having accepted a call to a church in southern Illinois, it was
necessary to call another pastor. The Rev. Norden, after his resignation as
pastor of Trinity church in Muskegon, accepted the call extended to him by St.
Luke's, and served faithfully until 1932. Because of advancing age and illness,
Pastor Norden resigned in 1932.
