Grand Rapids Press - Saturday, October 29, 1973 A Saturday morning ceremony in Trinity Lutheran Church united
Miss Linnea M. Lindberg and George B. Pattok in marriage. Linnea Lindberg’s
Death A deadly message: "Call the coroner" The note that court officer Robert Beardsley found taped to the locked front door of a mobile home in Gaines Township Tuesday morning was ominous: "Call the coroner’s office." Beardsley, assisted by a Kent County sheriff’s deputy and two state troopers, was serving an eviction notice about 10:30 a.m. to Linnea Lindberg at 147 Piedmont Drive SE in the Southwest Village Mobile Home Park. The officers’ worst concerns were confirmed when they entered the
trailer and found two bodies in a back bedroom. "I thought the worst," Beardsley remembers thinking as he stood
at the door. The couple left several notes for family. One dated December 26 read, "who ever finds this". It is believed that Quist killed Ms. Lindberg and then himself. The note makes it clear that her death was murder by consent. Lindberg had lived in the park since 1990 but had been in arrears
to the park since August. |
